with Rod Bugg, Lead Artist for the Sidney Nolan Trust Sculpture Programme, Roger Wilson (Head of Fine Art, Glasgow School of Art), Ed Allington (Head of Sculpture, Slade School of Fine Art), Keith Patrick (writer).
The conversation will follow a presentation by Ed Allington of his own work and a lecture by Keith Patrick entitled 'When is Modernism?' referencing the work of Jaume Plensa (currently showing at Yorkshire Sculpture Park).

'Working Wood, Carving in a Place'

A Weekend Workshop with Sculptor Nick Lloyd

15th and 16th October

10.00 till 4.00 each day

This two day course will allow for an introduction to ways of carving and handling wood through the use mainly of hand tools, but allowing for something to be made which might find a site or a home in the environs of The Rodd. The course would be suitable for the beginner and the more experienced, interested in the skills of making and the problems of siting works in a place.
Course fee: £85.00 to include lunch each day.

Use of Clay in Sculpture

A One Day Workshop with Sculptor Tony Hall

The workshop will be held at Castle Hill Pottery in Knucklas and is a day for artists/makers wishing to explore materials, tools and equipment, techniques and stratagies for making large clay sculptures.
Please bring with you sketch books, camera and any particular tools you need for your work. Please wear old clothes that don't mind getting dirty, bring gloves, hats, to suit the weather and wear strong boots or shoes.

Land Artist - Richard Harris

Weekend Masterclass

This is a two day workshop for a small group of participants to work with Richard Harris, a well known local sculptor, within the environs of The Rodd. Participants will be encouraged to find inspiration for their own work through working together as a group on a shared project. The farm offers access to all manner of materials including wood, stone and clay as well as natural objects of every kind and scale.
