Join us in the beautiful surroundings of The Rodd for a weekend of Live Music, Storytelling, Foraging, Art & Making as we celebrate the summer and being back. Find full details of the programme and artists below.

  • Jessica Rising

    Jessica Rising is Jesse and Hels, friends of old whose music is spun from the Welsh hills, open roads of America, and sun-soaked fields of France. Dreamy vocal harmonies, guitar and violin.

  • Alex Valentine

    Alex Valentine is a singer-songwriter based in Presteigne. Alex will perform songs from his latest album, ably accompanied by Jakey Boy Hughes.

  • Jakey Boy Hughes

    Jakey Boy Hughes is a singer-songwriter based in Hay on Wye.

    He writes prolifically across genres, from classical to grunge, and has amassed 50 songs broadcast on BBCIntroducing, BBC6Music and BBCWales, receiving support from Tom Robinson (BBC6) and Adam Walton (BBCWales) in the last few years. He has performed at festivals, including Secret Garden, Wilderness, Hay festival, How the Light Gets in, Nozstock, Hackney Wicked & Sheep Music.

  • Andy Skellam

    Andy Skellam is a Bristol based musician who creates a blend of surreal folk and dissonant blues using acoustic/electric guitar, banjo and his baritone singing voice.

Storytelling

  • Daniel Morden

    Daniel Morden has been a professional storyteller for over 30 years. He tells a huge range of stories, from ancient myths to awful jokes to magical fairy tales. In 2017 he was awarded the Hay Festival Medal for his services to Drama. He is also the author of many anthologies of folktales, including DARK TALES FROM THE WOODS which won the Tir Na-Nog prize.

Nature walks and Art

  • Adele Nozedar

    Adele Nozedar is an author and forager who has taken foraging groups out for the last 10 years since the publication of her bestseller The Hedgerow Handbook. This year sees the release of The Tree Forager. At The Rodd she will teach you about both wild plants and trees!

  • Dan MacCarthy

    Dan MacCarthy, our Resident Artist, will work with visitors over the weekend to create a large artwork using one of Sidney Nolan's huge unpainted canvases. You are welcome to join in for 15 minutes or stay all day.

Event Information

Tickets for the weekend are free and are bookable at Eventbrite. Alternatively, just drop in.

Activites run all day between 11.00am - 5.00pm. Please see the full programme at the top of this page.

Parking is available for free, please follow signs when you arrive at The Rodd.

Access to most of the activties is good. There is limited access to Rodd Court due to the historic nature of the building. Please ring our office to discuss any access requirements ahead of the event. There are accessible toilets with baby changing facilities onsite.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead at all times.
