“Sid’s mother was also my grandmother. During the 50s, 60s and 70s Sid spent most of his time overseas either travelling or living in the UK. Sid kept in constant touch by way of postcards from all over the world. I remember Nana’s delight when she would occasionally receive a painting from Sid which she proudly hung in her living room for all of us to admire. It was 1961 when a cylinder arrived with a collection of ‘Leda and the Swan’ lithographs. Nana was a little taken back claiming they were “naughty”. They were promptly returned to the cylinder and taken to the garden shed where they remained until my grandmother died in 1974. This is one of the “naughty” paintings.”
